Primare Updates Status February 2024
We are pleased to announce the immediate release of the first of many updates planned for the first quarter of 2024.
See below a brief description of the updates planned, as well as important information regarding CD15 Prisma and CD35 Prisma updates, and detailed update release notes.
The first update scheduled for immediate release is focused on bringing SC15 Prisma MK2, CD15 Prisma, and CD35 Prisma fully up to date, fixing some bugs, in preparation for certification and the subsequent release of Roon Ready firmware for those models. In support of that update, a Prisma application update for Android, iOS, and iPad will be released shortly following the release of the firmware update.
What’s happening next?
Roon Ready
CD15 Prisma and CD35 Prisma –the Prisma CD players are in the queue for Roon certification with the latest firmware mentioned above, with the expectation of being able to launch the update as soon as those models have been certified.
SC15 Prisma MK2, SPA25 Prisma, and SP25 Prisma – Roon is preparing new signal path display elements for these models to include:
- SC15 Prisma MK2 Room EQ and Manual EQ information
- SPA25/SP25 Prisma DSP mode and up-mixing information
Once this is integrated into the firmware, those models will enter the queue at Roon for certification.
Prisma application
Gapless playback for TIDAL and Qobuz, along with refinements to the display of album art for improved browsing experience will be provided in a subsequent Prisma application update.
SPA25 Prisma and SP25 Prisma
While the December 2023 update for SPA25 Prisma fixed the apparent bugs, it revealed an underlying issue in the bass management system. As the effects of this anomaly were inconsistent and seemed to have no obvious cause it has taken some time to determine that some speaker configuration settings allowed for cascading crossovers that impacted output frequency and phase characteristics with random outcomes for both Prisma manual and Dirac system calibrations.
The resulting updates are being finalized now and will provide bug fixes for SPA25 Prisma that will apply to SP25 Prisma, allowing for initial shipment of that much anticipated model and Roon certification for both models.
We apologise for the inconvenience and delays in providing these critical updates but please be assured that we are making every effort to provide these solutions as soon as possible and that we appreciate your continued patience as we work toward that goal.
Important information for SC15 Prisma MK2, CD15 Prisma and CD35 Prisma
SC15 Prisma MK2
In main firmware v1.52 there is a critical issue causing some settings and DSP presets to reset to factory default after a firmware update. This issue has been solved in v1.57 and will not happen from v1.57 onwards.
Note: this might cause the SC15 MK2’s remote mode to change from ‘PRE’ to ‘SC’ mode, causing the SC15 MK2 not to react on IR remote control commands. To change the remote mode, do the following:
- Enter the OLED display menu by pressing arrow up & down front buttons simultaneously.
- Use the same arrow up & down front panel buttons to navigate to the GENERAL SETTINGS and press SELECTOR button to enter menu.
- Enter REMOTE MODE option and choose ‘SC’ for C25 remote control, or ‘PRE’ for PRISMA/C25 remote controls.
CD15 Prisma & CD35 Prisma
The new firmware includes a bootloader firmware update. This is to prevent devices from getting bricked if an OTA firmware should be interrupted for some reason.
- If your CD15 or CD35 front display shows “Installing firmware 90%”:
- Wait for about 10 minutes.
- If you have waited 10 minutes and nothing happens, please power off the device with rear power switch.
- Wait for 10 seconds before you power on the switch again. The device will take about 2 minutes before it’s connected to the network. If firmware wasn’t installed correctly, it will download the firmware from the server and install it again.
- If your CD15 or CD35 front display shows “Installation failed.” Press any key to continue”:
- Press any front panel key to continue. The network module will reboot.
- After 2 minutes, the module will connect to Internet and download and install the firmware again.
