Why use different RCA connectors on the R35? Why not use them on all products?

Imported from the Zendesk Help Center (created 2021-11-18).

We tend not do things for marketing purposes and rather prioritise performance benefits, particularly as it relates to costs, and the surface mount connectors we use though out our line provides optimal performance for most input and output conditions.

For the R35, we elected to use the shielded RCA for the input of the R35 due to the understanding that there would be benefits for its use there for the much lower level input signals presented as a result of its being designed for use with the lowest output moving coil cartridges. To simplify construction (and oddly enough minimise costs by streamlining production), we elected to use it on the output stage, even though there are no significant performance benefits for doing so.

The use of this connector for other purposes in other models would not realise significant enough performance benefits, if any, sufficient to justify the cost. And as our goal is to provide the best possible experience for the greatest number of people, we choose to use our standard, simpler to install, optimal conducting element, minimal contact point, surface mount RCA connectors for great sound and lower cost on our other models.

Now, if we decide to design cost no object models, well then, that may be a different story.
